New 'Fame' Music Video is debuted at the MTV VMAs

The remake of the classic 80s musical “Fame”  is set for release on September 25th.  The movie is a re-envisioning of the original which kicked off the careers of several 80s music and movie stars.   Irene Cara sang the title song, starred in the movie, and went on to have several more top 40 hits during the 80s.   Lori Singer, who later starred in the blockbuster 80s movie “Footloose” ,  played cellist Julie Miller and Debbie Allen was  in both the movie and in the television show that followed.

The video for the title track of the new version was shown for the first time at MTV’s Video Music Awards show.  The song is sung by Naturi Naughton.  “Basically, this is a modernization; it’s a re-invention of the original,” said Collins Pennie, who wrote the rap he delivers in the middle of the song.
