In the mid 1980s, a strange phenomenon overcame moviegoers and animation enthusiasts in the form of a team of oddly compatible men that formed the most formidable paranormal investigation team the nation had ever seen. Ghostbusters, who risked life and limb to protect the general public from any assortment of trouble-making phantasms, then-served as the focus of a memorable feature film and later a long running animated television series. The latter, The Real Ghostbusters (1986), was an early morning fix for sleepy-eyed children and multimedia-consuming adults alike, and eventually served an interesting mix of humor and sci-fi that would be recalled for years to come.

Now, Sony Pictures is distributing the entire animated television series The Real Ghostbusters as a DVD Set, complete with several hours of bonus features and episode commentary. The cartoon, whose storyline picked up in the immediate aftermath of the 1984 live-action feature film, followed the whereabouts of Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Egon Spengler, Dr. Ray Stantz, Winston Zeddemore, their secretary Janine, and their green pal Slimer as they mount expedition after expedition to weed out every ghost, goblin, and boogieman from every shadow or crack in the wall possible.
